an extremely talented and skillful winger, one of the greatest wingers of his generation, if not all time, i am ziggy nizcott. very tall and extremely powerful and handsome, i used a combination of brute force, sheer strength, willpower, fantastic speed and incredible footwork to score an amazing amount of tries in my short but well remembered career for south sydney from 1980 to 1984. i scored two tries in the first state of origin match in 1982 i was that good. i captained the mighty rabbitohs from the wing as well, i was that good.
i was discovered by phil gould in the maitland area working as a coal miner and model at the same time. phil gould went on to say that i would become one of the greats and he was proven right...again ! after retirement i pursued modelling working mainly in new york for a few years. i was convinced to come out of retirement in 1987 and remember playing against jeff fenech in the lower grades for parramatta. he stole my mouthgaurd in that game. i played all 22 games in reserve grade for the rabbitohs in 1987 and then played in the finals series for first grade after coach phil gould saw me in the stands and asked me to come down for a run. that was canterbury i played for in the finals in 1987, not souths, quite remarkable really. i was eating a hot dog at the time. anyway i went on to win the game for canterbury with boots i borrowed from steve mortimer.
i finally retired after that remarkable finals series in 1987 and went on to both coach souths and canterbury reserve grade in 1988 i retired from coaching in 1989. since 1990 i have owned Ziggys a haberdashery outlet, in Lismore NSW.
i have recently won several tipping competitions as well.
